Fall 2016

Course Description
The business of international sports is a moveable feast: Olympics and World Cups take place in different venues, and season-long competitions within individual sports take place in an environment that disregards national borders — from Formula One races to ATP tournaments. Individual professional athletes may spend their careers in a number of countries. Apart from disputes relating to matters of money, there are conflicts relating to misconduct and suspension, notably for doping offences. But the world community does not have a unified court system. This short intensive course is designed to give the participants an overview of how the international sports world have built up mechanisms to fill this void.

Short Course Attendance Policy
Due to the small number of meetings, attendance to all meetings/classes for short courses is mandatory. Students who miss more than one class session (80 minute) of a 1-credit short course are subject to administrative withdrawal and will have a W for the course on their transcripts.
