Spring 2017

Course Description
This course will examine the employment relationship in the United States. It consumes the majority of the waking life of any employed person in the nation and more than half the expense budget of American employers. We will examine the nature, the benefits and the details of the relationship and the various common law, statutory and regulatory measures it has attracted.

Although the course will address antidiscrimination and whistleblower statutes in some detail, they are not the only focus of the course. We will address issues of contract, limitations on competition, forum selection and some discussion of the impact of the National Labor Relations Act as amended. This course will address these issues from the perspective of both counseling and litigation in the practical world of law practice.
