Summer 2017
LAW509  AW  ADVANCED LEGAL WRITING: NON-LITIGATION DRAFTING

Course Description
In this course, students will learn to draft documents that reduce to writing a client’s desires about legally significant transactions or events. Students will write documents common to law practice—such as wills, contracts, and legislation—but not covered in the first-year LComm course. This course will build on the basic analytical skills students already have and will teach them new skills required to succeed in effectively writing such non-analytical documents, such as integrating structure and content, using forms, gathering facts, anticipating the future, and writing for multiple audiences.
