LAW622  AW  AMERICAN LEGAL HISTORY SEMINAR

Course Description
The seminar will focus on a range of topics and themes in the legal history of modern America. Readings will be monographs, occasionally supplemented with articles and cases, and we will add or subtract topics based on student interest. Topics will include: the history of legal thought, imperialism, civil rights and race, capital and labor, gender/marriage/family, immigration and citizenship. Students will be required to make individual or group presentations in class, to participate in class discussion, and to write three review essays, of which the final essay will be a substantial literature review.
